CITY OF BONES  SUMMARY: When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers (Jace , Alec & Isabelle) covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy? Via: Good Reads

CITY OF ASHES SUMMARY: Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what’s normal when you’re a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who’s becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn’t ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary’s only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father.  To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. CITY OF BONES MY SUMMARY: Clary fray is an ordinary teenager living in New York city.  But she is unaware that she is connected to a secret world of Shadowhunters, Demons, Angels and Downworlders (warlocks, werwolf’s, vampires, fairies).  Until one day her home gets invaded where her mother gets kidnapped by some of Valentines followers. This leads to more stranger occurrence which includes her best friend Simon being changed into a rat, witnessing a demon being killed by some young shadowhunters and falling deep in love with one them.  Her mothers disappearance has some connection to this Valentine and an item called the Mortal Cup.

CITTY OF ASHES MY SUMMARY: Clary is still getting use to this world of shadowhunters and downworlders.  In the mix of it all the Clave of Idris has been called in to question all who witness the wise of Valentine.  They particularly send the Inquisitor to deal with the situation. Jace finds himself face to face with this character who sends him to the city of bones jail cell due to his linkage with Valentine and smart behavior.  While in prison he encounters the demon of fear, death of the silent brothers and the taking of the soul sword.  What else can go wrong?? What is Valentines master plan this time??

MY REVIEW:  One day while searching in the library to find a good movie to watch that night; I came across the film aspect of The Mortal Instrument The City of Bones.  At the end my family loved it so much so we had so many questions that were unclear within the movie that my sister and I looked up the series and found out it was based on a young adult series.  So we started holding the books and recorded readings of it.  Books for us and recording for our mom.  Now what you need to know about my mom is that she is one of these people who mentally get into story lines to the point that she really does not like to watch action pact films because she jumps to ever attack.  So if she got into it and wanted to read the book than thats is a plus for any one who has a picky reader in their house hold…

By the time I finished reading the first book my mom was already into the second book.  After the second book she was acting like she did not really want to continue the series but thus far she has requested for the next book.  As a reader of the book and not as a listener to the recorder.  I could not put this book down.  It was like the words were coming out of the page and there were some nights that I could not go to sleep without reading a couple page or chapters of the book.

Each character is likable, the plot is twisted and always turning that you do not know what is going to happen next.  Each time you finish a chapter or a series of the book their are more questions.  Yes some people might be uncomfortable with the subject of demons and the supernatural.  It also has a homosexual character that might prevent some parents allowing their kids to read this book.  At the end it is always a good idea to read along with your kids.  So if they have any questions they can talk with you.  It is a great opportunity to become closer with your kids.

Even though I am adult I am so excited that for once my mom and I are reading an exciting book that we are both reading.  At times she has come to me with questions.  I cannot wait until we have both finished and start talking about it.  As well as re-watch the movie and compare it with the book.
