SUMMARY: It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single woman teetering on the verge of thirty must be in want of a husband. Not true for Manhattanite Elizabeth Scott. Instead of planning a walk down the aisle, she’s crossing the pond with the only companion she needs; her darling dog, Bliss. Caring for a pack of show dogs in England seems the perfect distraction from the scandal that ruined her teaching career, and her reputation, in New York. What she doesn’t count on is an unstoppable attraction to billionaire dog breeder Donovan Darcy. The London tycoon’s a little bit arrogant, a whole lot sexy, and the chemistry between them is disarming. When passion is finally unleashed, might Elizabeth hope to take home more than a blue ribbon?

MY REVIEW: Very much like Pride & Prejudice. But you leave out the annoying family and an independent Elizabeth you’ve got a modern adaption of Jane Austen’s beloved book. Elizabeth in “Unleashing Mr. Darcy” still has her prejudice, but has more independence. This is a modernized Elizabeth not your 19th Century Elizabeth. With that you are going to get your ups and downs of any modern relationship. And unlike 19th Century courtship where there is no kissing involve so to speak, but in this Elizabeth and Darcy relationship you will have kissing. There were moments in this book where I though you guys need to get a room and stop doing your make out sessions out in the public. No one really wants to see that. I was also thinking that if this ever did happen in real life watch Elizabeth become pregnant. Towards the ending, I thought Elizabeth was going to tell Darcy she was pregnant. All that sexual activity between the two characters, would make one think she would end up getting pregnant.
But that is where real life and books are different. Characters don’t become pregnant unless their author wants them to become pregnant. I’m just staying no one thinks I need protection when doing it in the middle of a tent at a dog show. Just saying….
Besides the countless sexual content of the book I thought the characters, plot and writing style over all was very good. I completed this book in three days. If the writing style was at all even a little bad I probably would not have completed this book in that amount of time. It was a joy to read minus the sexual content. I would recommend this book to Pride & Prejudice enthusiast but no one under 21 years of age. I loved the dog show scenes and especially the early moments in Elizabeth & Darcy’s relationship. As the story moves on their relationship and love developed more. Elizabeth got to learn more about her purpose in life and not allow her past to haunt her. Bad things do happen to good people and you can’t allow one bad person to haunt your future and your career.
