MY REVIEW:  I could not put this book down and it took me just three days to read this.  I think all ages could enjoy this book; it does have some scenes that might not be appropriate for ages below fourteen.  The main male character was not really impressive and at times I really disliked him.  Wondered why these two strong female characters risked their lives for him. At the end the male character grew on me and he was not that bad in the end.

Over all I though it was inspiring story and at times I had difficult time reading it.  Especially when Lenia finally finds herself on land and finds the prince.  She thinks at first it is love and but really the prince is just using her body.  At the end I feel that the prince finds himself falling in love with her.  But it was difficult to read when a child like character is being used by an heartless, lost or empty character.  The inspirational part was when Lenia would talk about the human soul and the hunger she felt for one.  I also enjoyed reading Lenia and Margrethe journey.  How they connected and formed a friendship.  At the end how this unique friendship would save them and their world.  How the different parts of the story at the end would get connected.

If you have not read the original story I would recommend reading it before reading this novel.
